Sicamous, BC

Come cruise on the lake of Canada's Houseboat Capital! Boasting a prime location right on the shores of Shuswap Lake, Sicamous offers a bounty of excellent visitor adventures. Leave your stresses on shore as you sail off into the middle of the lake in a houseboat. Jet ski, swim, or fish from the comfort of you “backyard,” or drop anchor on shore to relax on your own private beach. With over 1,000 km (620 mi.) of shoreline surrounding Shuswap Lake, you will definitely have plenty of choice!

Back on solid ground, why not take a short drive east to Craigellachie? See where the last spike was hammered into the track, marking the final link between Eastern and Western Canada in the completion of the Canadian Pacific Railway. Then, enjoy a tour of the whimsical Beardale Castle Miniatureland, where owner Herb Egin has painstakingly created four international villages, complete with more than 130 tiny buildings, several running trains, and an animated fairy tale display.

Sicamous is located on the Trans-Canada Highway (Hwy 1), 121 km (75 mi.) north of Kelowna. While the local airport in Salmon Arm provides local service for charters and private planes, visitors arriving internationally should fly into Kelowna, or nationally into Kamloops, 143 km (89 mi.) west of town. Commercial bus service is also available. Population: 3,165 Elevation: 350 m (1,148 ft.) Average July High: 27ºC (80ºF) Average January Temperature: -5ºC (23ºF) Annual Rainfall: 46 cm (18 in.)
